trou|ba|dour «TROO buh dr, -dohr, -dur», noun.
one of a class of knightly lyric poets and composers mainly of southern France and northern Italy from the 1000's to the 1200's. The troubadours wrote mainly about love and chivalry and composed ecstatic, lyrical love songs.
